About SlingGuide

SlingGuide was the brainchild of a mother, who wondered why, with all the realms of information available to new parents on choosing brands and types of baby equipment, there was nothing to help them learn about slings.

The idea came to her after a physiotherapist observed how the shape of her baby’s head had improved by being carried in a sling, and commented that she wished more health visitors knew to recommend using a soft carrier to help with ‘flat head syndrome’.

about sling guideThe same day, a friend asked her for advice on buying one for her baby, and that confirmed her in her opinion that a simple, straightforward guide to slings – their benefits, types available, and where to purchase them – was a much needed resource.

She put the idea to a group of like-minded parents, some professionally involved in advising on sling use, and others who had found their way to using slings by trial, error and some expensive mistakes. They all agreed that they would have loved such a guide to be available when they became new parents.

SlingGuide is the result. We have pooled our knowledge and experiences in the hope that we can make finding and using a sling a simple task for any parent. We are unpaid, independent volunteers and our advice is honest, unbiased and based on collective experience. And we promise you we will never recommend a carrier we would not be happy to use with our own babies.
